Addie R. Hall, 87, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015 with her family whom she dearly loved, at her bedside.
She was born August 13, 1927, near Water Valley, Kentucky, daughter of Amos and Vinnie Stokes. She grew up near East Prairie, Missouri and later moved to Cape Girardeau. She and Roy Odell Johnson were married January 24, 1946. He passed away October 27, 1988. She married John Hall who preceded her in death in 1994.
Addie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She was employed most of her life in the healthcare industry, but preferred to share her zest for life with her daughter, granddaughter, and great grandchildren, teaching them many different crafts and skills including crocheting; sewing; flower arranging; and many more. The great grandchildren reveled in playing a variety of Nintendo video games with her, and neither could beat her at Tetris or Dr. Mario. She was also a great lover of animals and spoiled the family’s pets daily.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Velma Gammon; granddaughter, Rebecca (John) Cantrell; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Becca Cantrell, all of Cape Girardeau.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters, and son-in-law, Don Gammon.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of all arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to our local animal shelters, Southeast Hospice, or our local food banks, as she would want contributions to be focused on helping or improving the lives of others.
