Dorothy I. Cook, 79, of Burfordville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 18, 1937, in St. Francois County, Missouri, to George R. and Irene Archambo Grisham.  She and Paul L. Cook were married October 31, 1973.  They had been married 29 years when he passed away on November 22, 2002.

Dorothy loved God and was a faithful servant. She was also a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was always important to her.

Surviving are five children, Wayne Jarvis of Jackson, Wade (Kathy) Jarvis of Millersville, Warren (Lisa) Jarvis of Jackson, Winnetta (Shannon) Adams of Jackson, and Wesley Cook of Scott City, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Jane (Leonard) Pritchett of Bonne Terre, Missouri, and Marjorie Grisham of Fredericktown, Missouri.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson David Cook; a brother, George “Bud” Grisham; and an infant sister, Reva Mae Grisham.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at 11 am, at the funeral home, with Rev. Philip Jordan officiating.

Burial will be in Haynes Chapel Cemetery near Burfordville.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Haynes Chapel Cemetery Fund.
