Evelyn L. Schoenebeck, 91 of Jackson, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 28, 1923, near Oak Ridge, daughter of Oscar Charles and Hilda Matilda Friedrich Ludwig. She and William “Bill” Albert Schoenebeck were married November 1, 1942 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fruitland. He passed away February 13, 1966.
Evelyn graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1939. She worked for Bell Telephone as an operator in Cape, Stoddard, and Perry counties, retiring in 1982. She and her husband, Bill, raised turkeys on their farm. They were co-owners of a feed store in Fruitland, and hauled livestock to the St. Louis stock yards in the 1940’s. Evelyn was a member of Telephone Pioneers, and a life-long member of St. John’s U. C. of C.
Loving survivors include; a grandson, Brian “Slim” Schoenebeck of Jackson; a granddaughter, Michelle Schoenebeck of Hutto, Texas; two great-grandsons, Cody Schoenebeck of Jackson, and Keoni Ramo of Hutto, Texas; a brother, Vernon Ludwig of Jackson; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Schoenebeck of Jackson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William “Bill” Schoenebeck in 1997, and two sisters.
Friends may call from 4-7 pm Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 12:30 pm until service time on Sunday at St. John’s U.C. of Christ.
The funeral will be 2:00 pm Sunday, at the church, with Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating.
Interment will follow in St. John’s U.C. of C. Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John’s U.C. of C. Cemetery Fund.
