P robably the most difficult and yet possibly the most gratifying and meaningful decisions families face is selection of a casket for their loved one. And, because of their special and lasting significance, caskets are a particular interest and concern to them. McCombs wants all families to be comfortable and proud of the casket they select. Therefore, both funeral homes provide extensive, yet not overwhelming, casket selection rooms for the families they serve. Should families prefer not to physically view caskets, photos and detailed descriptions are provided for their convenience. Photographs also offer convenience to persons desiring to pre-arrange in that it's not necessary for them to actually come to the funeral home. They can make selections in the comfort of their own home.
Funeral purchasers should know that caskets are customarily described as non-protective and protective with respect to elements. Non-protective caskets have no gaskets to seal the interior from erosion. Non-protective caskets are typically 20 gauge metal and wood caskets. Protective caskets feature gaskets to seal the interior from erosion. Protective caskets are typically 18 and 16 gauge metals, stainless steel, copper and bronze caskets. Non-protective (non-sealing) caskets are financially more economical. Protective (sealing) caskets are more expensive, but still available for a reasonable price when compared to the value.
Technology and competition continually prompt new developments in the casket industry and McCombs makes it a priority to offer the latest quality developments to the families we serve.
Personalization of caskets, although not new to the industry, is a concept that families seem to appreciate. Personalization is achieved by selection of certain merchandise to compliment and enhance the memory of the deceased. The McCombs casket rooms include a special section of "personalization" merchandise.
