Jerry Lunsford, 64, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Sells Rest Home, in Matthews, Missouri. His mother, Geraldine Lunsford-Laramore, preceded him in death early Wednesday morning, March 11, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born January 5, 1951, in Anna, Illinois, to Ernest M. and Geraldine King Lunsford. He attended Jackson High School. He entered the U.S. Army on January 11, 1968. While in the Army, he earned his GED and served overseas in Korea. He was honorably discharged February 3, 1971. Upon returning home, he worked at the former Lenco in Jackson, and was employed there until he had an aneurysm at age 23.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Ann; six siblings, Nelson (the late Gracie) King, Brenda (the late Gary) Sides, Kathryn “Sue” (Mike) Stinson, Doris “June” Collier, Ricky (Judy) Lunsford, and Debra (the late Wes) Kinder, all of Jackson; four step-siblings, David E. (Annette) Laramore, Michael T. Laramore, both of Red Bud, Illinois., Dixie (Bernie) Clayton of O’Fallon, Missouri., Joyce Ann (Jim) Hundley of Waterloo, Illinois; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Lunsford; step-father, Edward “Dick” Laramore; a brother, Toney Lunsford in 1994; and a nephew, Brian Sides in 2002.
Visitation will be Friday, March 13, 2015, from 9:30 AM to service time, at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be Friday, at 10:30 AM, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Rhodes officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
