Betty Joan Scholz, 84, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 8, 1931 in rural Cape Girardeau County, to Linville “Bill” and Alma Loos Proffer. She and Bobby Gene Scholz were married September 23, 1953.
Joan was raised in rural Cape Girardeau County. She worked at the former Lee Rowan in Jackson in the early 1950’s.
Loving survivors include her husband, Bob of Jackson; two children, Debbie Blanton of Washington, Missouri, and Randy Scholz of Jackson; a son-in-law, Wayne Wolak of Jackson; a granddaughter, Bobbi Bell of Jackson; a grandson, Kris Blanton of Washington; four great-granddaughters, Autumn Hinkebein, Katie and Brooklyn Phillips, Gabby Bell; and two great-grandsons, Nolan Bell and Logan Blanton.
She was preceded in death by two children, Cheryl “Kay” Wolak and Joe Scholz, a granddaughter, Jami Wolak, a brother, Rick Proffer, and her parents.
Friends may call Tuesday, September 8, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to service time, at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating.
Interment will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Missouri Veterans Home Foundation.
