Margaret E. Puchbauer, 97, of Jackson passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born January 11, 1920, in Tilsit, daughter of Charles H. and Ida Valle Daume, Sr.  She and Verlin Puchbauer were married March 21, 1942. He passed away January 21, 1987.

Margaret was baptized and confirmed at St. James United Church of Christ in Tilsit and was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She worked several years at Cape Girardeau County Courthouse in Jackson. In 2014, Margaret retired after 43 years of dedicated service as the church secretary for Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She was very faithful and fully committed to her church and to her Lord Jesus. Margaret enjoyed square dancing, cooking, and shopping for clothes, as she always wanted to look her best.

Loving survivors include her daughter, Lisa Craig of St. Charles, Mo; a grandson, Adam (Maricar) Craig of St. Charles; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Craig and Katrina Craig both of St. Charles; seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Madison, and Mackenzie Craig, Nicholas Eversley, Kaya and Cameron Craig, and Ariana Ashbrook; four siblings, Marie Haupt of Jackson, Ruth Meier of Perryville, Ethel Hall of Oro Valley, Ca., and Melbert Daume of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 44 years; a son, Bill Puchbauer; two brothers, Charles Daume and Edward Daume; and a sister, Allegra Wendel.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 9:30 am until service time at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.

Funeral service will be Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 10:30 am, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, with the Rev’s. Joe Rowley and Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to a scholarship that was set up in the honor of Margaret which is named the Emanuel United Church of Christ Margaret Puchbauer Scholarship.
