Marie Frances (Halter) Bradford-Amrhein, 91 of Jackson, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 20, 1926, in Charleston, Missouri, to Joseph and Ida Wilhelm Halter.

After her 1944 graduation from St Henry High School in Charleston, she worked for Bell Telephone Company in Charleston. She and Ollie James “Jay” Bradford were married February 25, 1946, at St Henry Church in Charleston, in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Dorothy Halter and Cornelius Rolwing. Marie and Jay had been married 59 years when Jay passed away September 1, 2005. She and Joseph Amrhein were married in October 2006. Joe passed away February 22, 2007.

The Bradfords moved to Jackson in 1952. For more than half a century, they were active members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where Marie served as a Eucharistic minister for several decades and was active with the Home and School Association in earlier years. She was a former member of Kimbeland Country Club.

Marie’s employment included 11 years at the Cape Girardeau County Clerk’s office in Jackson and the former TCI office in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Martha (Doug) Caldwell of Kirkwood, Missouri, Maureen Wessell-Tygett and husband Jeffery of Jackson; three sons, James (Polly) Bradford of Plymouth, Michigan, Joseph (Anita) Bradford of Chesterfield, Missouri, and Michael (Selene) Bradford of Maryland Heights, Missouri; former son-in-law, Melvin (Dianne) Holzum of Leopold; and longtime friend and caregiver, Denise Egbuka of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Alissa Holzum Vandeven, John and Benjamin Caldwell, Laura Caldwell Skuran, Amy Bradford, Catherine Bradford Black, Colleen Bradford Barbaro, Glenn Bradford, Shelly Wessell Weber, Bryan Wessell, Jessica Tygett Self, Sarah and David Bradford, and Melissa Bradford Orscheln; 17 great-grandchildren, Jenny and Christa Vandeven, Milan Caldwell, Greyson and Kira Caldwell, Theodore Skuran, Mitchell, Breanne, Sylvia, and Frances Black, Lydia and Peyton Weber, Chase, Aidan, and Ava Wessell, Olyvia and Owyn Self.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Bradford; a daughter, Evelyn Holzum; a grandson, Mark Holzum; a son-in-law, Daniel Wessell; her second husband, Joseph Amrhein; and two sisters, Beatrice (Roy) Stocking and Dorothy (Cornelius) Rolwing.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, August 7, 2017, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Deacon Walter Biri will lead parish prayers at 7 p.m., immediately followed with a Rosary.

Funeral Mass is at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, with Father John Harth officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
