Veteran-IntroRobert Michael “Mike” Cord, Sr., 68, of Jackson, formerly of Piedmont, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born September 24, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Robert A. and Iris S. Guess Cord.

Mike was a graduate of Bossier High School in Bossier City, Louisiana.  He enjoyed playing youth league baseball, and made the All Star Team while he and his family lived in Spain.  He was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the United States Army from November 22, 1966 until being honorably discharged on October 21, 1968.  Mike worked as a welder, and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He moved from Piedmont to Jackson five years ago.

Loving survivors include his father, Bob Cord of Jackson; and a son, Robert “Michael” Cord, Jr. of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
