John Claude Norman, 76, of Jackson passed away Thursday April 4, 2024, at his home.
He was born January 17, 1948, in Jonesboro, Arkansas son of Henry B. and Clementine Caneer Norman. He and Linda Charlotte Layne were married June 4, 1967, at Senath United Methodist Church in Senath, Missouri.
John was a 1966 graduate of Senath-Hornersville High School where he was a standout athlete in basketball, track and baseball. He graduated in 1970 from Arkansas State University with Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Agronomy. John worked as a Missouri State Highway Patrolman from 1971 to 2004 in troop E as a Sergeant. He was a member of the New McKendree United Methodist church and a member of the Methodist Men’s Club. John enjoyed coaching optimist wrestling, baseball and football.
Loving survivors include his wife, Linda of 56 years; three sons, Brandon (Rhonda) Norman, Tyson (Jackie) Norman, and Nathan (Audrey) Norman; grandchildren, Randa (Ty) Selsor, Bryce Norman, Noah Norman, Owen Norman, Eve Scott, Stepanie Beattie and Shelly Proffer; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, JoAnn Norman (Lou Riley).
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Charlotte Jean Norman.
Memorial visitation will be from 12:30pm – 2pm on Sunday April 7, 2024, at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.
A memorial service will follow at 2pm at the church, with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating.
