Aleen Walther Obituary

Aleen Walther, 93, of Jackson passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Born January 22, 1926, in Fruitland, she was one of two daughters born to Edwin and Cora Heider Willa. She was baptized March 7, 1926, and confirmed April 2, 1939, at St. John’s United Church of Christ near Jackson.

Aleen was a 1943 graduate of Jackson High School.  She then worked at the International Shoe Factory in Jackson.  She and Albert Walther were married February 24, 1946, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, after Albert returned from serving in WWII.  They were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas until transferring to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson in 1954, where they both remained faithful members until their passing.  They had been married 69 years when Albert passed away May 1, 2015.

Aleen enjoyed being a room mother while their four sons attended St. Paul Lutheran School.  All their married life, she and Albert worked side-by-side in every aspect of their dairy farm north of Jackson.  Aleen always had a very large garden and did lots of canning and freezing.

Loving survivors include four sons, Richard (Carol) Walther, Roy (Brenda) Walther, Ralph (Mary) Walther and Ronald (Pam) Walther, all of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Alisha (Jamie) Curtis, Travis Walther (Shelly Barks), Ryan (Tina) Walther, Jana Walther, Leann (Shannon) Stinson, Jason (Leslie) Walther, and Josh (Tricia) Walther, all of Jackson, and Jill (Chad) Lankford of Perryville, Missouri; three stepgrandchildren, Shawna, Jade, and Rusty; nine great-grandchildren, Ireland Curtis, Addysen Walther, Jakoata Walther, Jaylie and Drake Walther, Stella, Emmett, and Zetta Lankford, and Claire Walther; a great-stepgrandson, Trenton Curtis; and two sisters-in-law, Nelda McMurtry and Irene Hurst of St Louis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and an infant sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 10 a.m. to service time, Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at St, Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the church, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Serving as pallbearers are Ryan, Travis, Jason, and Josh Walther, Jamie Curtis, Shannon Stinson, and Chad Lankford.
