Almeta Long Obituary

Almeta L. Long, 84, of Sikeston passed away Friday, March 1, 2019, at Hunter Acres Nursing Home, where she had been a resident the past four months.
 

She was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Senath, Missouri, daughter of Ira S. and Alma Jane Hanners Dockins. Almeta married Houston Long on Jan. 22, 1966, in Jonesboro, Illinois. He preceded her in death.
 

Almeta worked for Ralph Edwards in Cape Girardeau for a number of years and Murphysboro Jacket Factory in Illinois. In 1974, she moved to Hickory, North Carolina, where she worked for Superior Cable Fiberoptics. She returned to Missouri in 1990.
 

Survivors include three siblings, Carl Dockins, Jerry S. (Carolyn) Dockins and Mary Lou Switzer, all of Jackson; two granddaughters, Heather Rust and Brandi Galloway of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David Charles Rust and Anthony Wayne Rust, and a brother, Donald P. Dockins.
 

A private family graveside service will be held.
