C. William “Bill” Wooten, age 71 of Jackson died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 4, 1947, in Florence, Alabama, son of Glenn Virgil and LaVon Tessie Linville Wooten. He and Linda Kieninger were married June 23, 1990 in Scott City, Missouri.
Bill served honorably in the Army National Guard. Together, he and Linda owned and operated the Bayou Bar and Grill in Pocahontas since 2005. Bill was a member of the Elks Lodge in Jackson and the Eagles in Cape Girardeau. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family.
Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 29 years, Linda Wooten of Jackson; three daughters, Belinda (Gary) Arnzen of Jackson, Kayla Horton of Elm Grove, Louisiana, and Jennifer Wooten of Jackson; two sons, Richard (Carol) Smith of Atlanta, Georgia and Daniel Smith (D.J.) of Annapolis, Maryland; four grandchildren, Amelia, Alex, Kynleigh and Lane; his mother-in-law, Verna Kieninger of Pocahontas; two sisters-in-law, Debbie (Steve) Sandau of Salem, Oregon and Pat (the late Dirk) Engelhart of Jackson, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby (Sherry) Wooten.
The visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2019, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at funeral home with the Rev. Billy Garner officiating. Military honors will be observed at the funeral home. Burial is private.
In Bill’s memory, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Missouri Veterans Home Foundation in Cape Girardeau.
