Carolyn R. Myer, 79, of Jackson passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 13, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, daughter of John and Minnie Schloss McFerron. She and Paul Raymond Myer were married October 11, 1986. He passed away September 20, 2000.
Carolyn was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was baptized on June 1, 1940 and later confirmed April 11, 1954. Carolyn was a 1958 graduate of Jackson High School. She worked for Sears for over 30 years. She was former president of American Legion Auxiliary #158 in Jackson for many years. Carolyn enjoyed cooking; her favorite was to bake her famous banana nut bread.
Loving survivors include two daughters Judy (Rob) Hodge-Roberts of Jackson and Theresa (Greg) Houchin of Sedgewickville; two sons Jeff (Kellie) Fluegge of Texarkana, Texas and Kelly (Liz) Fluegge of Jackson.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 15 great – grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of nearly 14 years she was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Virginia Meyr, Sharon Tate and Irene Glenn; a son – in –law Garry Hodge; and two great granddaughters, Bailey Jones and Emmalyn Washkowiak.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 9, 2019 from 4-8 pm at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral service will be Thursday, October 10, 2019 at 10am at the funeral home with Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.
Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
