David Craig Tally, 64, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at his home after a struggle with liver cancer.
He was born November 19, 1954 in Cairo, IL to the late Jerry and Rita Sue Parker Tally.
David grew up in Mounds, IL. He graduated Meridian High School as salutatorian. Then attended Southern Illinois University, obtaining a BA degree in psychology. He returned to SIU to get a BS in Computer Science before going to work for American Airlines working in their computer reservation system “Sabre” in Tulsa, OK for 17 years. He returned to school to obtain a BSN in Nursing from St. Louis University and went to work for Barnes Hospital in St. Louis as a nurse. His latest occupation was with Southeast Health Care in their IT department, where his coworkers became like family to him. David loved to work in his yard, in addition he enjoyed cooking. He also volunteered with the Missouri Department of Conservation in their outreach education programs.
Loving survivors include his sister, Mona (Craig) Wells of Cape Girardeau, their children Kurt (Cathryn) Wells and Kyle Wells, a sister-in-law Rhonda Tally of Fayetteville, TN and her children Ryan (Jessie) Tally and Nicki (Justin) Graham and their children Jacob and Logan Graham.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother William Richard “Dicky” Tally.
Friends may call Saturday, from 11 am till service time at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A memorial service will be on Saturday at 1 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Stan Hargis officiating. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Health Foundation at 1849 Broadway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701 or www.sehealth.org/foundation.
