Deanna Helene Long, 74, of Jackson passed Wednesday, June 26, 2019 surrounded by her family, and is finally walking with her parents.
She was born in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Glenn and Rosanna Fallert Woeltje. She and James Long were married December 11, 1971 at Old McKendree Chapel in Jackson.
Deanna was dedicated to insuring the safety and well-being of the children of Missouri. She loved her career and was proud of her work with the State. She was a past honoree of the Cape County Business Woman of the Year. Deanna treasured her family dearly. She loved to knit, read, cook and decorate cakes. She was also a talented artist, especially with oil paintings.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, James Long, loving survivors include son, John (Jeanne) Long of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Brenda (John) Long-Sharp of Nashville, Tennessee, Lynne Bader (Nancy Jackman) of Buffalo, New York and Barbara Gleason (Agnes Brown) of Cape Girardeau; brother, Dennis (Sheryl Smith) Woeltje of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Elijah, Elle, Brianna, Kelby, Bell and Brandon (Janell); two great-grandchildren, Shaelyn and Gabriel and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Ryan Schetter; brother, David Woeltje and sister-in-law, Julia Woeltje.
The visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2019 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. The Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, followed by inurnment at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
