Elizabeth “Liz” Smith, age 82 of Jackson, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at her home.
She was born June 18, 1935, in Advance, Missouri, daughter of William “Will” and Parlie Rhodes Dale. She and Joel “Jerry” Smith were married March 20, 1955 in Hernando, Mississippi. He passed away October 14, 2012.
Liz graduated from Central High School in Cape Girardeau in 1953. She worked for Litz Brothers Poultry and Lee Rowen in Jackson before retiring in 1998 after 27 years at Lee Rowen. She then worked part-time in the deli department at Country Mart in Jackson. Liz was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson.
Loving survivors include four sons, Terry Smith of Jackson, Larry Smith of Yuma, Arizona, Earl Smith of Lincoln, Nebraska and Kenneth (Cindy) Smith of Rush, Illinois; four grandchildren, Ike, Brook, Brandon and Blake Smith; six great-grandchildren, Kailynn, Kade, Railey, Chloe, Mattie and Ellie and a brother, Gene (Judy) Dale of Oak Ridge.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
The visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday June 12, 2018 at the funeral home with the Rev. Bobby Gene Ellis officiating.
Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the American Legion Club Room in Jackson.
