Evelyn Goodson, 91, of Jackson passed away Thursday, January 17, 2019, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born September 27, 1927, in Bisbee, Arizona, to A.O. and Pauline M. Sturgeon Pittenger. She was a graduate of Columbia High School in Columbia, Missouri and attended two years at Stephens College in Columbia.
Evelyn and Raymond F. “R.F.” Goodson were married June 15, 1946. They resided in Jackson and had been married 65 years when R. F. passed away January 2, 2012.
Evelyn was a sports enthusiast and followed all Jackson sports. She was very artistic and enjoyed crafts and dominos; but she loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family.
Loving survivors include her children, Ann Woods of Crane, Missouri, Mary Jane Powell of Blue Eye, Missouri, Raymond (Tammie Hart) Goodson of Ozark, Missouri, John Goodson of Jackson, Doug (Peggy Preusser) Goodson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Martha (Eric) Venable of Jackson, and Patty (John) Hutson, of Marble Hill, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a great granddaughter, Kaitlin Marie Vermillion; and two siblings, Donald Pittenger and Marjorie Weimer.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time, Saturday, January 19, 2019, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating.
Due to inclement weather, burial was rescheduled FROM 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2019, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carrollton, Missouri TO 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2019, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Carrollton, Missouri.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson or the Alzheimer’s Association.
