Gary Ulrich Obituary

Gary Wayne Ulrich, 66, of Jackson passed away Monday, April 29, 2019, near his home.

He was born March 31, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, to Melvin and Roberta L. “Bobbie” Cotner Ulrich.

He was a 1971 graduate of Jackson High School. Gary was an avid outdoorsman and spent many hours bass fishing, camping and boating. He also enjoyed vintage motorcycles and collecting things that sparked his interest. He was a member of the Jackson Excelsior DeMolay’s and several area Bass Fishing Clubs. He spent his career as an electrician working both independently and for Black Hawk Electric. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.  

The proudest moment of his life was when he became a grandfather this past year to Nora Ruth. 

Loving survivors include a daughter, Megan Ulrich (John Leonardi) and their daughter, Nora, of Crested Butte, Colorado; his father, Melvin A. Ulrich of Scott City, Missouri; his mother, Roberta L. “Bobbie” Ulrich of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Sherri (Michael) Punches of Estes Park, Colorado; a brother, J. Steven Ulrich of Scott City; two nieces, Cyndi (Rick) Blalock and daughter, Caroline, of St. Louis and Christina Ulrich of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wesley and Grace Cotner and Joseph and Mabel Ulrich and his beloved dog, Sugar.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to service time, Saturday, May 4, 2019, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating.  Interment will follow in New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.
