Glyen Ignatius Brown

Glyen Ignatius Brown III, age 53, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2019 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 26, 1965 in Sacremento, California, son of Glyen I. and Rachel A. Rodway Brown Jr. He married Dawn Michell Griggs August 4, 2004, she survives.

Glyen entered the United States Army on October 18, 1983 and was honorably discharged October 17, 1987. He moved to the Cape Girardeau area in 2004 and had worked as a dispatcher for BART Transportation Company in Jackson the past several years. Glyen was a member of Fruitland Community Church and a lifetime member of VFW post 3838 in Cape Girardeau. He was an avid Los Angeles Angels fan.

Loving survivors include his wife, Dawn of Cape Girardeau; son, Lucas Chronister of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Jennifer Brown of Stockton, California, Tracy (Wade) Weston and Stacy Pettibone; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elmo and Ruth Griggs of Annapolis, Missouri.

He is also survived by his two special canine friends, Buddy and Shelby.

Glyen was preceded in death by his parents and his pets Coco and Tesla.

A memorial visitation will be 10-11 am Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Fruitland Community Church at Fruitland. A memorial service will begin at 11 am at the church with Rev. Mike Parry officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family to assist with Lucas’s education.
