Ida K. “Sue” Lange, 80, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born February 25, 1939 in Cape Girardeau, to Leo Pete and Irene Diebold Urhahn. She and Walter Lange were married May 16, 1958 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. They had been married 61 years when Walter passed away June 25, 2019.
Sue attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School and the former Catholic High School in Cape Girardeau. Her father owned and operated the former “full service” Urhahn’s Phillips 66 Station in Cape. In her early years, Sue worked as an attendant, washing windshields and filling up cars. She later worked in the medical field, first at Saint Francis Hospital, then for Dr. Burford, Dr. Crowe, and the former Cape Doctors’ Group, all in Cape Girardeau.
Sue was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and was active in the Concordia Guild until her health rendered her unable to participate. She had a special passion for dogs and cats and was an avid supporter of the Humane Society in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include two children, John Lange of Jackson and Laura Richardson of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Ryan and Derek Richardson of Cape Girardeau, a sister-in- law, Adela (the late John) Moore of Shawneetown; and her beloved dog, Turbo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Walter Pete Lange, and two siblings, Robert Urhahn and Dorothy (Harold) Annis.
