Irene Helen Mirly, age 89, of New Wells passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019 at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson.
She was born Dec. 11, 1929 near New Wells daughter of Benjamin and Edna Kutscher Hoffman. She married Arnold William Mirly February 5, 1950 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at New Wells. They had been married 50 years when he passed away on July 12, 2000.
Irene was baptized Dec. 29, 1929 and was confirmed April 18, 1943 at Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member and last surviving member of the Ladies Aid Quilting Group. She and Arnold farmed together many years and when Arnold’s health declined, Irene was a loving and dedicated care giver to him.
Loving survivors include a son, Kenneth “Kenny” (Joann) Mirly of New Wells; a daughter, Karen (David) Florence of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, David (Tori) Mirly of Jackson, Jennifer (Jason) Schlueter of Moscow Mills, Missouri, Diane (Travis) Demarest of Jackson, and Trey Florence of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven great-grandchildren, Luke, Drew, Seth and Tinsley Mirly, Tyler, Kenna and Josey Demarest; a sister, Ruby (Harold) Heise of Uniontown; a brother, Ruben Hoffman of New Wells and a sister-in-law, Mildred (the late Floyd) Hoffman of New Wells.
In addition to her husband, Arnold, she was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Viola Hoffman and a brother Floyd Hoffman.
The visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the church with the Rev. Lawrence Bradt officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family suggests that contributions be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church of New Wells.
