James David Cantrell, age 86, of Jackson passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at his home.
He was born January 29, 1932, in Leora, Missouri, son of Robert and Lettie Malone Cantrell. He and Roma Hoskins were married February 13, 1952 in Laramie, Wyoming.
James worked in the St. Louis area as a mechanic for International Harvester and was transferred to Cape Girardeau 42 years ago. The highlights of his life were mowing the yard with his riding mower; tinkering with his tools in his garage; spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 66 years, Roma Cantrell of Jackson, loving survivors include four children, Karen (Mike) Morgan of Jonesboro, Illinois, Bonnie (Kevin) Wooden of East Alton, Illinois, Kenneth (Ginny) Cantrell of West Africa and John (Becky) Cantrell of Jackson; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant granddaughter, Jessica Cantrell; four brothers and four sisters.
The visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Russell officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the donor’s church or charity of choice.
