Kelly R. Crites, 84, of Jackson, passed away Saturday January 12, 2019 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 26, 1934 in Bollinger County son of Edward B. and Mabel A. Seabaugh Crites. He and Dorothy Marie Kurre married September 3, 1955 at Old Appleton. Dorothy preceded him in death February 27, 2000. Kelly and Wilma Barks Yamnitz married May 2, 2002 and she recently passed away August 11, 2018.
Kelly was raised at Sedgewickville, MO. Shortly after he and Dorothy married he entered the United States Army and served in Germany. Upon his return, Kelly farmed and owned and operated an excavating business. He then later worked at P & G many years. After retiring he and Wilma enjoyed traveling together, he also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He volunteered many hours serving the North County Fire Station. Kelly attended St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fruitland.
Loving survivors include two brothers, Wendell “Bud” (Bee) Crites of Lakeview, Arkansas and Roger (Lavern) Crites of Sedgewickville; his adopted family when he and Wilma married; Bonnie (Marty) Dubs, of Elizabeth City, NC, Bambi (Kenny) Fowler, Craig (Suzi) Yamnitz and Ryan Yamnitz all of Jackson; 13 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wives Dorothy and Wilma he was preceded in death by three sisters Helen Loos, Beatrice Dennison, and Wanda Akers.
The visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 16th, at the funeral home with the Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating.
Interment will be in Cape Girardeau County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.
The family suggests that contributions be made to Arthritis Foundation and the Alzheimer’s Association.
