Marcella (Brown) Clore-Hoeller, 97, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 3, 1921, in Cape Girardeau County to Clarence Rosco and Bessie Weatherford Brown. Clarence, who served in France during WWI, was responsible for giving his daughter one of his favorite Franch names, “Marcella”.
Marcella married William Thomas “Bill” Clore in 1939. Two children were born to their union, William “Spencer” and Judith Ann. In June, 1944, William Thomas was killed overseas during WWII.
Marcella married James “Elwood” Hoeller in December, 1953. They enjoyed a wonderful life together, and especially enjoyed cruising, dancing, Elvis Presley music, and family Christmases on the beach in Florida.
Marcella was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include two children, William “Bill” (the late Barbara) Clore of Denver, Colorado and Judith (the late Charles) Hutson of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Charles David Hutson and Christopher Lynn (Jerra) Hutson of Cape Girardeau, Kim (Scott) Haller of St. Louis; five great-grandchildren, Alec and Ethan Hutson of Cape Girardeau, and Drew, Aaron, and Adam Haller of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Clore; her second husband, Elwood Hoeller; two siblings, Lester (Viola) Brown and Virginia Kensella; a niece, Sharon Jean Evans; a son-in-law, Charles Lynn Hutson; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Clore
Rev. Douglas Breite will officiate a graveside service at 2 PM, Thursday May 23, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice, #10 Doctors’ Park, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703.
