Mark Lindsey Berry, 63, of Jackson passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 17, 1956, in Greenville, S.C., son of Irving John “Irv” and Rosemary Sebaugh Berry.
Mark graduated from Jackson High School in 1975 and Southeast Missouri State University in 1979. He received his Master’s Degree from University of Missouri in 1982. Mark retired in 2015 from Proctor and Gamble after 29 years of service. He taught vocational agriculture at Saxony Lutheran High School in Fruitland since 2015, retiring in 2019. Mark was a farmer at heart, operating the family farm near Fruitland, raising beef cattle and hogs. His passions and hobbies included riding horses and roping, riding his Harley on motorcycle trips with his buddies, and driving country roads in his pickup truck with his loyal canine sidekick, Maverick by his side.
Loving survivors include his mother and three brothers Matthew (Barbara) Berry of Belleville, Illinois, Michael (Nancy) Berry, and Kenneth (Elaine) Berry both of Jackson and a sister, Julie (Michael) Glaus of Delta; four nieces and three nephews; four great grandnieces.
Also, surviving is a special friend, Rosie Cook of Jackson and his loyal canine sidekick, Maverick.
He was preceded in death by his father Irving Berry. Irv passed October 13, 2017.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019 from 11am until service time at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Service will follow at 2 pm at the funeral home with Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating.
The family suggests that contributions be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ near Fruitland, Sargents Chapel Lutheran Cemetery near Sedgewickville, Saxony Lutheran High School Agriculture Building Fund, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
