Mary A. Jones, age 80, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Chateau Girardeau Nursing Care Facility in Cape Girardeau.
She was born August 22, 1938 in Hermann, Missouri the daughter of James M. and Alice Frey Jordan. She and Harold E. Jones were married January 1, 1956 at Caruthersville, MO. He preceded her in death May 8, 1965.
Mary was a 1956 graduate of Caruthersville High School. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville for many years. She served as treasurer for the church for over 40 years, was a former Sunday school teacher, youth leader, an elder and a deacon. Mary was also presented a lifetime membership to the Presbyterian women of the church for her years of dedication and service to the church. Mary worked at First State Bank in Caruthersville for several years and was a member of the Professional Business Women’s Association. She loved to read and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Loving survivors include two daughters, Karla (the late Jim) McDonald of Maryville, TN and Penny (Steve) Green of Jackson; five grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Vincent, Andrea McDonald, Brandon (Sara) Pylate, Paige (Clay) Turner, and Arika (Daniel) Lowe; seven great grandchildren; and a brother, Jim (Marita) Jordan of Grand Prairie, TX.
Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Georgia Ann Jordan of Hermann; and a brother-in-law, Gerald L. Jones of Cape Girardeau.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, and a brother, Kenneth Jordan.
The visitation will be from 11 am until service time on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville, MO.
The memorial service will be at 12 noon Saturday, January 5, 2019 at the church with the Rev. Ricky Lyle officiating.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Caruthersville or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
