Mildred Marie Schott, 97, of Jackson, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born June 10, 1921, in Biehle, Missouri, to Frank and Bertha Schott Wingerter. Mildred completed elementary school at the former St. Maurus Elementary School and then worked five years at the former shoe factory in Perryville.
She and August A. Schott were married January 11, 1947, at St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, also the church of her baptism and confirmation. The couple made their home in Jackson and immediately became members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mildred was a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, and often cared for her grandchildren and her neighbor’s children. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and quilting and cooking with sister members of St. Ann’s Sodality. She and August had been married nearly 69 years when August passed away September 11, 2015.
Loving survivors include three children, Larry (Shirley) Schott, Allen (Marilyn) Schott, and Mary (Dale) Woeltje, all of Jackson; three grandchildren, Tracy (Greg) Little, Jaime (Jerry) Swan of Jackson, and Dan (Dana) Schott of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ashley Schott, Kody Seiler, Kamren Donner, Wyatt and Shiann Dunning, Darrius Schott; eight step-grandchildren; two brothers, Milton (Marilyn) Wingerter of Hazelwood, Missouri, Lloyd (Velma) Wingerter of Perryville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy (the late Merlin) Wingerter and Dorothy Schott-Alkemeyer (the late Howard Schott and the late Bill Alkemeyer), both of Perryville; a and a brother-in-law, Joe (the late Alice) Schott of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Milton Schott; two brothers, Elmer (Irene) Wingerter and Merlin Wingerter; and a sister, Alma (Nelbert) Geringer.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Father John Harth will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
Burial will follow at St. Maurus Catholic Cemetery in Biehle.
