Ronnie Slinkard, 64, of Carbondale, Ill. formerly of Jackson, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
He was born Dec. 1, 1953 in Cape Girardeau son of Ronnie Gene and Della Stovall Slinkard.
Ronnie worked on the river from 1974-1979 before becoming an over-the-road trucker, working for several companies throughout his career.
He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises and river boat gambling. He had a contagious laughter and accepted everyone as his own and would do anything for anyone.
Loving survivors include his mother, Della; step-father , James McLain of Jackson; a son Ronnie Slinkard (Sarah Tanner) of Scott City; a brother, Hank Baker of Jackson; two step-sons, James Jones (Evelyn Freeland) of Whitewater, Missouri; and Rocky Jerls of Puxico, Missouri; a step-daughter, Jennifer Jerls of Puxico; and his very special canine friend, Little Trouble, a mini-pinscher.
He was preceded in death by his father Ronne Gene Slinkard.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 31, 2018, from 10 a.m. to service time, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 1 p.m.,at the funeral home, with the Rev. J. D. Smith officiating.
Interment will follow at Russel Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
