"Sonny" Linder Peter Deimund

“Sonny” Linder Peter Deimund, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 13, 1935 in Cape Girardeau, the son of Linder and Susie Katherine Blumer Deimund.  He and Joyce Bullard were married Oct. 2, 1959 in Jackson, MO.

Sonny graduated from Cape Central High School in 1953.  He served two years in the U. S. Army then worked with the Corps of Engineers before starting his career at the Cape Girardeau Sand Co. in 1959 where he worked side by side with his father and brother as Co-Owners and Co-Operators.  Sonny was a loving husband, an excellent father and a wonderful grandfather.

Sonny’s family would like to give a special thank you to Heartland Care and Rehab especially Megan and Tommy Wallace for the wonderful care they provided.  Also heartfelt gratitude to Crown Hospice with a special thanks to Chaplin Elijah Allen.

Loving survivors include his wife of 60 years Joyce, three sons, Sonny Lee Deimund of Jackson, Jeff (Tammy) Deimund of Cape and Joe (Jennifer) Deimund of Mascoutah, IL, two daughters, Pamela Deimund of Cape and Angela (Adam) Newsham of Rock Hill, MO.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jackson and Mitchell Deimund, and Aero Newsham, a step granddaughter Katie Wunderlich and a former son-in-law Mike Recker of Jackson, TN.

He was preceded by his parents, a brother Richard, a grandson Mikey Recker and a step-grandson Bobby Wunderlich.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
