Violet “Vi” Colyott, 91, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born December 4, 1928, in Cape Girardeau, to Durward L. and Arah B. (Reid) Lawrence. She and Norman Colyott were married December 4, 1955, in St. Louis. They had been married 47 years when Norman passed away June 6, 2003. Four sons were born to their union, Michael, Bruce, Steven, and Kevin. Steven passed away January 15, 2010.
Vi and Norman moved to Jackson from Kennett in 1968. Together they established The White House Bed and Breakfast in Jackson. Vi worked nearly 30 years as a realtor, most recently for Coldwell Banker Abernathy Realty in Jackson, and Norman co-owned and operated Norman’s Radiator and Air Conditioning Repair Shop in Cape Girardeau with his brother-in-law, Louie Lawrence.
Vi was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and the Red Hat Society.
Loving survivors include three sons, Michael (Debbie) Colyott of Fayetteville, Georgia, Bruce Colyott of Jackson, and Kevin (Debbie) Colyott of Jackson, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Louie Lawrence of Jackson and Darron (Bobbie) Lawrence of Bridgeton, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; a son, Steven; three sisters, Prentha Merritt, Helen Webb, Sandra Murray; and three young siblings, Gaylon, DeWight, and Troy Lawrence.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral is at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 19, 2019, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brian Anderson officiating. At the request of the family, interment is private.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Crossroads Fellowship in Jackson or First Baptist Church in Jackson.
