Virginia Gohn, 85, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born December 11, 1933, in Glen Allen, to Ernest and Blanche Sitzes Lincoln, Virginia was one of six children. She attended the former Prospect School near Glen Allen and was a longtime member of the Glen Allen Baptist Church, also the church of her baptism. She and Kelly Gohn were married June 9, 1954, in Glen Allen. Two daughters were born to their union, Nancy and Beverly.
In the mid-1960’s, the Gohn became faithful members of First Baptist Church in Jackson. Virginia worked as a cashier at Sears and later as a cook for Jackson R-2, but she always felt her most rewarding jobs were being a mom and grandma.
Loving survivors include her husband of 65 years, Kelly Gohn of Jackson; two daughters, Nancy (Darwin) Lape of Jackson and Beverly (Fred) McWilson of Jackson; five grandchildren:, Chris (Jessica) Lape and children Shaina, Emmett, Benjamin and Kodi Ann of Marble Hill; Scott (Stefanie) Lape and children Paige and Dawson of Marble Hill; Drew (Sierra) McWilson and children Rónán and Eóghan of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Lance (Kristen) McWilson and son Grant of Colorado Springs; Courtney McWilson and son Wilson of Jackson; and three sisters, Charlene Robertson of Ellington, Missouri, June Northcutt of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Ruth Miller of Glen Allen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two siblings, Betty Lincoln and Melvin Lincoln.
Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to service time, Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral service is at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Francis officiating. Interment will follow in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery in Marble Hill.
