Alfred Richard Eifert

Alfred "Richard" Eifert, 94, of Cape Girardeau passed away February 17, 2024, at Chateau Girardeau. He was born May 1, 1929, in Illmo, Missouri, son of Alfred "Turk" and Bernice Tisdale Eifert. He and Pauline Penrod were married on November 26, 1989. She passed away on October 2, 2011. Richard was a graduate of Illmo High School. He entered the US Navy December 3, 1947, and served as a Navy Corpsman on board the USS Roosevelt and the USS Shangri-La. Richard was honorably discharged from the Navy on June 5, 1967, at the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He then went to work for the US Post Office in Cape Girardeau. Richard was a member of the Cape VFW, Cape American Legion, and the Moose Lodge. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and dancing. Loving survivors include, his children, LaWanna (Tom) Heise, Cindy (Joel) Neely, Mark (Diane) Eifert, Katrina (Wayne) Calhoun; stepchildren, Laurie (Allen) Young, Cathy (Charlie) Mason, and Danny Ferguson; 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, wife Pauline, son Richard Rene Eifert, a granddaughter and a great-grandson. A private service will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield Missouri.
