Alfred Walter

Alfred G. "Pop" Walter, age 90 of Jackson, died Wednesday, Apr 26, 2017 at his home. He was born Feb 22, 1927 son of Otto and Anna Sander Walter. He and Arlene Krueger were married Dec 20, 1959. She died Apr 19, 1985.

Alfred was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He was baptized and confirmed at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Ilmo, MO. He was a farmer, construction worker, and was a school bus driver many years for the Jackson R2 School District. He served in the US Army from 1952 til 1954 during the Korean War.

Loving survivors include 5 children, Martha Jane Cotner of Jackson, Jimmy (Pam) Walter of Millersville, John (Val) Walter of Jackson, Margaret (Don) Howard of Jackson and Mike (Lisa) Walter of Jackson; 12 grandchildren, Mark Cotner and Michele Cotner, Nichole Glueck, Jacob Walter, Joe Walter, Joshua Walter, Jessica Stearns, Shane Walter, Curtis Walter, Zach Walter, Matt Howard and Alissa Howard; 7 great grandchildren and a brother, Henry Walter of Scott City, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Arlene; 5 brothers, Lenos, Gene, Butch, Pete and Martin Walter; 4 sisters, Marie Roth, Aletha Varnon, Dorothy Hamm and Kathleen Green.

Visitation will be 4-7 pm Sat, Apr 29, 2017 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and 1-2 pm Sun, Apr 30, 2017 at Hanover Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be 2 pm Sun, Apr 30, 2017 at the church with Rev Tony Kobak officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hanover Lutheran Church.
