Allyn Dale Penny, 68, formerly of Jackson, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Levering Regional Health Care in Hannibal, Missouri.

Allyn was born August 15, 1953, to Patty J. Brooks, in Oregon.

Allyn’s childhood nickname was “Smiley”, and his sweet smile will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Allyn was a 1972 graduate of Jackson High School, where he was a member of the varsity wrestling team.

He is survived by three siblings, Terry (Joyce) Penny of Jackson, David (Roxie) Penny of Cape Girardeau, and Cheryl (Terry) Sides of Jackson; an aunt, Peggie Brown McAnally; nieces, Ginger (Paul) Lufcy of Cape Girardeau, Amy (Greg) Franklin of Jackson, Julianne Sanning of Ballwin, Missouri; nephews, Ryan (Brittany) Sides of Jackson, Jeremy Penny of Jackson; great-nephews, Paul David Lufcy, Carson Franklin, Riley Penny, and Cameron Sides; great-nieces, Olivia Penny, Ivy Sanning, Autumn Sides and Kylie Sides; and dear friends and caregivers, Richard and Dorothy Cerretti of Hannibal, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Patty J. Brooks; maternal grandmother, Gurie Unger; and a nephew Todd Eugene Sides.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.
