Anita L. Longman

Anita L. Longman, 86, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Herrin, Illinois, daughter of Anthony and Severina Beotti Catani. She and Kenneth Longman were married Sept. 12, 1953, in Herrin, Illinois. He passed away Nov. 26, 2002. Anita was a member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, where she was a past member of the St. Ann’s Sodality, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and Jackson Jaycees Wives. She worked in the banking business for over 40 years. Anita loved Cardinals baseball, cooking, and being outside working in her yard. Loving survivors include two sons, Michael (Betty) Longman of Fruitland and Lonnie Longman of Jackson; two daughters, Kendra (Joseph) Boos of Gordonville and Nancy (Russell) Toombs of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; six grandchildren, Anthony (Jennifer) Longman, Kala (Max) Rose, Kristen (Aaron) Swanson, Laura (Tyler) Propst, Josie (Michael) Harris and Andrew Toombs; and seven great grandchildren, Logan and Barrett Longman, Madison and Tanner Swanson, Maria Propst and Jace and Lilyana Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, and a sister, Dorothy Pellegrini. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, with recitation of the rosary at 11 a.m., both held at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral Mass will follow at noon at Immaculate Concept Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund and Birthright of Cape Girardeau.
