Arlysse Lorraine (Lichtenegger) Popp

Arlysse L. Popp, 91, of Jackson, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Villas of Jackson Memory Care.

Arlysse was born in Pocahontas, Missouri, to Henry E. and Mabel H. Swan Lichtenegger, on September 1, 1931, she was the youngest of five children.

Arlysse and Vernon Schoen were married June 17, 1951. Four sons were born to their union, Vernon G., Bruce, William, and Terry. Arylsse and Vernon had been married 19 years when Vernon passed away November 16, 1970.

Arlysse married Kenneth Popp on May 6, 1972. Ken had two sons, Kevin and Wayne Popp. Arylsse and Ken had been married 32 years when Kenneth passed away December 16, 2004.

Arlysse was a 1950 graduate of Jackson High School. She was a volunteer for Southeast Hospital for over twenty years and enjoyed volunteering as Dean at Little Egypt Lutheran Camp and We Can Weekend. She enjoyed playing the organ and piano. Her other hobbies were dancing, gardening and traveling.

She was a member of Sargent's Chapel in Sedgewickville.

Loving survivors include three sons, Bruce (Brenda) Schoen, William Schoen, and Terry Schoen, all of Oak Ridge; a daughter-in-law, Linda (the late Vernon) Schoen of Oak Ridge; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her spouses, Vernon Schoen and Kenneth Popp; a son, Vernon Gale Schoen; four siblings, Charles (Geneva) Lichtenegger; Harvey (Alyce) Lichtenegger; Violet (Vernon) Johnson; and LaVerne (Floyd) Puchbauer; and two stepsons, Kevin Popp, and Wayne Popp.

Visitation is from 10am to noon, Saturday, January 14, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Jerry Bailey will conduct a memorial service at noon, Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the funeral home.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Southeast Hospital Cancer Center.
