Barbara Jean Hoffmeister

Barbara Jean Hoffmeister, age 70, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018.

She was born November 28, 1947, in Kennett, Missouri, daughter of Harrison and Athine Fanning Toole. She and Harold Hoffmeister were married April 11, 1992 in Gordonville.

Barbara worked at Southeast Missouri State University. After she and Harold were married, they lived on the farm in Gordonville until they both retired in 2003. She will always be remembered for her hard work on the farm and her passion for gardening, cooking and most important, the love for her family.

Loving survivors include her husband of 25 years, Harold; a son, Lee Powers of Tennessee; sisters, Sue (Tommy) Anderson and Mary (Rick) Powers, both of Tennessee, Anita (Walter) Branscum of Jackson; a brother, Dewayne Toole of Tennessee; grandchildren, Gordon Powers of Jackson, Erica Powers of Oran, Aaron Robison of Arkansas; six great-grandchildren; four nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests that contributions be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
