Barbara J. (Ochs) Farquhar

Barbara J. Farquhar, 90, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.

Barbara was born April 5, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, to Henry and Lucille Gladish Ochs.  She and John M. Farquhar were married October 2, 1960, in Houston, Texas.

Barbara graduated from Cape Central High School before attending and graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.  She went to work as a reservationist for Braniff Airlines in Houston, TX where she met and married John.  They moved to Albuquerque for a brief time before returning to Cape Girardeau, where she became the owner/operator of Ochs Florist.  Barbara loved to paint and painted many local sceneries.

Loving survivors include her husband John; a son John (Matilda) Farquhar Jr. of Round Rock, Texas; a sister, Caroline Cameron of Atlanta, Georgia; and two grandchildren, Cinnamon (Matthew) Fuller and John Patrick (Arin) Farquhar of Austin.

Also surviving are two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Ochs.

A gathering of friends will take place at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 10 am till 2 pm.  A graveside committal will take place at a later date.

The family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959.
