Becky Sue Thorne

February 5, 1955 — February 18, 2021

Vienna IL.

Surrounded by close family members, Becky Sue Thorne, 66, departed this world February 18, 2021, following a valiant three-year fight with cancer.

She was born February 5, 1955, to Evelyn Skelton Dake, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.  She and Donald Ray Thorne were married April 16, 1973, in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Her children were raised in Gordonville and Jackson, Missouri.  She and Don had been married 16 years when he passed away August 12, 1989.

Becky was a lifelong caregiver. She had an in-home daycare, babysat, and did private in-home care for the elderly. She enjoyed the sound of wind chimes, collected many treasures through the years, and thought her grandchildren hung the moon.

Becky is survived by three children Monica (Scott) Cobb of Jackson Missouri, Sunni (Sam) Taylor of Vienna Illinois; Colton (Slounie) Thorne of Hollister, California; five grandchildren: Alaire, Kyler, Logan and Elizabeth Taylor and Rhegan Thorne; four sisters Patty (Gary Sr.) Matlock, Connie (the late Roger) Adams, Donna (Russ) Whitworth and Tanya (Tim) Cooper, a companion, Thomas Knowles, and 11 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Dake; a nephew, Gary Matlock, Jr.; brother-in-law, Roger Adams; and a great-nephew Ethan Lee Adams.

Becky’s care was entrusted to McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

She will privately be laid to rest with her husband, Don, at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Gordonville. A private celebration of life may be held at a later date.
