Betty (Heimbaugh) Hahs

Jackson, Missouri

Betty Hahs, age 93, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Monticello House.

She was born July 6, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Curtis and Ruby Niblack Heimbaugh.  She and Paul “Jake” Hahs were married February 8, 1947.  He passed away June 4, 1979.

Betty was a 1942 graduate of Jackson High School.  After working ten years at the International Shoe Company in Jackson, she returned to school at Brown Business College in Cape Girardeau.  She then worked for various area businesses in accounting, retiring after 15 years from Jackson Oil Company in 1995.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and was a lifetime member of the Jackson Memorial VFW Post #10495 Auxiliary, serving as president from 1998 until 2000.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau where she was awarded volunteer of the year in 2003 and had accumulated several hundred hours of service.

Loving survivors include a son, Robert Hahs and Paula (Ken) Tucker of Jackson; four grandchildren, Molly (Eric) Goetz, Sam Hahs, (Fiancé, Rachel Baker), Annie Tucker and Kady Tucker, all of Jackson; five great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, June Heimbaugh of Washington, Missouri.

In addition to her husband of 32 years, Jake Hahs, she was preceded in death by her parents a brother, Kenneth Heimbaugh and a son-in-law, Ken Tucker.

There will be no visitation; graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Randy Riley officiating.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau or First Baptist Church in Jackson.

McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements.
