Betty R Hanselmann

Betty Ruth Hanselmann, age 88, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, August 1, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 12, 1937, to Alt Felty and Ethel (Barks) Felty in Cape Girardeau, MO.

After graduating from Jackson High School, Betty received a business degree from Metro Business College in Cape Girardeau, MO. She worked at Missouri Utilities in Cape Girardeau until 1969. After, she stayed home, taking care of her children and helping her husband on the farm.

On April 24, 1966, Betty married the love of her life, Harold Hanselmann, at Burfordville Baptist Church. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. They were lifelong members of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Fruitland, Missouri, where Betty faithfully taught Sunday school and was an active member of the Ladies’ Fellowship.

Betty found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved watching birds from her window, tending a garden, spending time with Harold on the farm, and, above all, being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and family. She took great pride in the life she and Harold built together and cherished every moment spent with those she loved.

Betty will be remembered for her steadfast faith in the Lord, her genuine kindness, and the warmth and sincerity she shared so freely with everyone she met. Her love, gentle spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith leave a lasting legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Harold Hanselmann of Jackson; children, Patricia (Tony) Yount, Mark (Denise) Hanselmann of Jackson, Teresa Lichtenegger of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Jesse Yount, Lindsey and Lauren Lichtenegger of Jackson; step grandchildren, Jordan (Cody) Crites of Jackson, Caleb (Marty) Schaaf of New York City; step great-grandchildren, Maisyn and Gunner Crites of Jackson; and sisters, Jettie Petzoldt and Loretta French.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, Edna Hanselmann, and father-in-law, Willie Hanselmann.

The family sends sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the Saint Francis Medical team. Their care and compassion did not go unnoticed.

Visitation will be at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, MO, on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday , August 6, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Pastor Sam Roethemeyer will be officiating the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday , August 6, 2026 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Interment will follow at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Fruitland, MO.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns United Church of Christ cemetery fund in Betty’s memory.
