Betty Lee Hoffmeister, 96, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Monticello House in Jackson.
Betty was born March 22, 1929, in Jackson to Chester and Ethel Cox Masters. Chester passed away in 1933.
Betty and Oscar Hoffmeister were married January 3, 1947, in St. Louis. Their union was blessed with six children. They had been married 52 years when Oscar passed away September 30, 1999.
Betty worked 23 years at Lee Rowan. She was a longtime member and a former Sunday school teacher at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. Betty was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 158 in Jackson.
Loving survivors include three children: Linda (Kerry) Hoffman of Columbia, Missouri; Cheryln (Jeff) Landgraf of O’Fallon, Missouri; Larry (Kay) Hoffmeister of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Carol (late Jack) Hoffmeister of Littleton, Colorado; a brother, William “Bill” Penrod of Jackson; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; children, Tammy Hoffmeister and Ann (Jay) Herbert; a grandson, Jack Landgraf and a granddaughter, Jaimi Hoffman; and siblings: Malone “Pete” and Robert “Bob” Penrod, Mary Dean Noblitt, and Barbara Jean Masters.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. The Rev. Joshua Rau will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 27, at the church. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
