Betty L (Schwach) Bishop

Jackson, Missouri

Betty L Bishop has a change of address. She has entered into the presence of God. She took her final journey to His home in Glory with her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 23, 2025. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Ethel C. and James E. "Breezy" Wiseman and husband, Paul J. Bishop, who she married in 1949 for 52 years at the time of his death in 2002 and special friend James H. Coates. She is survived by her daughter, Paula (Kevin) Lukefahr; grandson, Joshua Paul (Julia) Lukefahr; and a granddaughter Dr. Ashley Lukefahr, MD, all of Arizona. She is a 1948 graduate of Central High School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and attended Southeast Missouri State University. She was President of Junior Study Club and Eta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She worked as a Service Representative for 29 years with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Jackson and a second career, 18 years with Drury Communications Department. Betty was an avid reader and bridge player. A lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary Jackson and 50 plus year member of VFW, Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson. Betty's last act of kindness was donating her body to the Washington University School of Medicine. McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson is in charge of arrangements. There will be no services. The family suggests that contributions be made to Arthritis Foundation.
