Betty Sue (Shimkoik) Rinkenberger

Imperial, Missouri, formerly of Jackson, Missouri

Betty Sue Shimkoik Rinkenberger, 81 of Imperial, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 28, 2020, at her home.

Born February 13, 1939, in St. Charles, Missouri, to Rex Shimkoik and Lydia Craft Shimkoik, she married Robert Edwin Rinkenberger on March 22, 1958. They had three children, Robert Edwin “Ed” Jr., Kathleen Ann, and Jeffrey Allen Rinkenberger.

Betty was a 1957 Graduate of Joliet Township High School in Illinois. She worked as a fraud investigator at Famous Barr.  In recent years, she was best known as the “Junk Lady” of Bonne Terre.

Betty was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Arnold.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Kathie Shedron of Brownsville, Texas; her son Jeff Rinkenberger of Desoto, Missouri; five grandchildren: Robert Rinkenberger (Cam) of Imperial; Christopher Duemig (Kelly Megel) of Wilmette, Illinois; Ryan Smith of Maryland Heights, Missouri; Colleen Rinkenberger of St. Louis; and Tristan Rinkenberger of Flat River, Missouri; and four great-grandchildren, Brayden and Elora Rinkenberger of Imperial, and Elliot and Westley Duemig of Wilmette, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Rinkenberger, Sr.; a son, Robert Edwin “Ed” Rinkenberger, Jr; and her parents.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 640 W. Independence, Jackson, Missouri 63755.

Pastor Warren Woerth will officiate the funeral at 11 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2020, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas, Missouri, with luncheon after.
