Billy Dean (Hoffmeister) Hoffmeister

Billy Dean "Bill" Hoffmeister, 87, of Cape Girardeau, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 24, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 20, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, to Alvin and Bertha (Siebert) Hoffmeister. He and Julia Koerber were married December 1, 1957, at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She survives. Bill was a 1952 graduate of Cape Central High School. He was inducted into the United States Army on October 27, 1954 and was honorably discharged October 11, 1956, having served in the Korean War. He worked for Ameren (Missouri Utilities) from 1957 until 1992 as a lineman. Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau for over seventy years. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He also enjoyed woodworking and made many pieces of furniture. He bred beagles and competed in beagle field trials under the name of Oak Lei Beagles for over twenty years. Over the years of competitions, he raised many field trial champions. Bill always had a love for a new, clean pick-up truck, but most of all he loved and cherished his family. In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, Bill is survived by four children, Jeff (Kelly) Hoffmeister of Waterloo, Illinois, Gwen (Paul) Seyer of Jackson, Brian (Bob Stelle) Hoffmeister of San Francisco, California, and Kim (John) Winslow of Overland Park, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Paige (Les) Mays, Taylor Hoffmeister, Adam Hoffmeister, Jordan Seyer, Marcus Winslow, Megan Winslow, and Clayton Winslow. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ervin Hoffmeister and Leonard Hoffmeister; and two sisters, Dorothy Emmons and JoAnn Emmons. Friends may call Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 10 AM until time of service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The funeral will be at 12 PM, at the church, with Rev. Doug Breite officiating. Interment will follow in the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
