Billy Martin Tate, 94, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. Louis.
He was born November 9, 1920, in Campbell, Missouri, to John M. and Mamie Ezell Tate. He was a a 1938 graduate of Campbell High School. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Tingle Tate, second wife, Trudy W. Watson; six brothers, and three sisters.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from May 28, 1942 to October 9, 1945, honorably discharged as a sergeant.
He was a longtime member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Loving survivors include three children, Kathy (Rick) McCulloch of Ferguson, Missouri, Paul (Jacqueline) Roziewski of St. Louis, and Margaret London of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Julie (Jeremy) Buie, Dan McCulloch, Debbie (Jim) Haalboom, Jeff Roziewski, Mark (Connie) London, and Don London; two great-granddaughters, Natalie Buie, Candace (Matt) Schlueter; a great-great-grandson, Nick Schlueter; and a sister, Mary Williams of Campbell, Missouri.
Friends may call Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 9:30 AM to service time, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be Thursday, at 11 AM, at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Pringle officiating.
Interment will follow at Dongola Cemetery near Advance, Missouri, with military honors.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Civilian Conservation Corps Legacy.
