Bobby D. McManus, 93, of Delta, peacefully passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Bob was born February 11, 1932, in Crump, Missouri, to Frenton and Pearl Stroder McManus. He was a graduate of Helderman Grade School.
Bob and Retha Ballew were married August 6, 1960, at Second Baptist Church in Fredericktown, Missouri. Four children were born to their union, twin daughters, Linda Kay and Brenda Faye, Penny, and Rob. Bob and Retha had been married 61 years when Retha passed away March 18, 2022.
In addition to farming, Bob worked 14 years at Superior Electric, and 15 years as a bus driver and custodian at Delta Public Schools.
Bob was a longtime faithful member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Delta and worked many years as the church custodian.
Bob’s greatest pleasures were spending time with his beloved family, woodworking, and gardening. He loved sharing garden produce with family and friends and even enjoyed canning when there was more than enough to share.
Loving survivors include two children, Penny Lipe of Delta and Rob (Michelle) McManus of Fenton, Missouri; grandchildren, Mollie Fields, Zoe Lipe, Jeff (Allison) McManus, Paul (Alexandria) McManus, Scott (Olivia) McManus, Sidney ( Ashlyn) McManus, Kyle (Taylor) Taylor; 13 great-grandchildren: Penelope, Payten, Wyatt, Lincoln, Heidi, Rhett, Lane, Ruby, Lyla, Walker, Avery, Sophie, and Louise; and two sisters, Evelyn (late Bob) Gass of Cape Girardeau and Ella Dee (late Claude) Jinks of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife; infant twin daughters, Linda Kay and Brenda Faye; his parents; and a brother, Billy D. McManus.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Delta.
The Rev. Rany Conn will conduct the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, at the church. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates contributions to First Baptist Church, Delta, for Operation Christmas Child, 591 N Liberty St, Delta, MO 63744. This charitable cause was very close to Bob’s heart.
