Bobby Joe King, 86, of Jackson, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 4, 1938, in Neely's Landing, Missouri, to Robert and Geneva Morton King.  He was a 1956 graduate of Jackson High School, where he played basketball.

Joe and Earlene White were married December 15, 1956, in Cape Girardeau.  Three children were born to their union, Bobby Joe Jr. "Joey", Greg, and Kristi.

In 1952, Joe's parents established Bob's Tire Repair in Jackson.  At the age of 14, Joe started working at the shop, and retired in 2000, after working 48 years.  In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing the fiddle, fishing, and vegetable gardening.

Joe and Earlene are longtime members of Discover Life Church in Cape Girardeau.

To cherish his memory, Joe leaves his wife of nearly 68 years, Earlene King, and is also survived by two children, Greg (late Penny) King and Kristi King all of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Mary Pat (late Joey) King of Jackson; 7 grandchildren: Adriane (Alex) Lacey; Dayna (Josh) Havemann; Derek (Elysia) King; Bobby (Jessica) King; Kellie (Russell) Sinclair; Brandee (Chris) Reagan; Danielle (Brad) Gross; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; siblings: Gene (Joyce) King, Ricky (Lynda) King; Sue (Homer Jr.) Stamp.; Sharon (late Bob) Joyce; Mary Beth (Paul) Vrbosky; Cynthia (Ken) Hotop; sister-in-law, Jackie (late Kenny) King; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Joey King; his parents, Bob and Geneva Morton King; a brother, Kenny King; brother-in-law, Bob Joyce; daughter-in-law, Penny King; 16 angel great-grandbabies; Earlene's parents, Lee and Alice McKee White; and Earlene's siblings, Harold, Virgil, Clifford, Billy Gene "Dean", Bobby, and Carol White, Lottie Fryman, and Annabell Doyle.

The family will honor Joe with a private graveside service.
