Bonnie Jane Jansen, 90, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Hubble Creek Nursing Home in Jackson. She was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Oran, the daughter of William A. and Hazel Smith Menz.
She married Otto William Jansen on Aug. 22, 1953. He preceded her in death Feb. 1, 1987.
Bonnie was a graduate of Oran High School. Following graduation, she worked as a telephone operator in St. Louis. She and Otto initially rented a farm in Perkins, before purchasing their own farm north of Jackson, where they raised cattle and other livestock.
Throughout her life, Bonnie held various roles, including working at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill and Lenco in Jackson. She later obtained her nursing assistant license and worked for several years at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. Afterward, she cared for special needs children as a babysitter.
She found joy in gardening and tending to her flower beds. Bonnie was also an avid quilter, creating quilts for all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren — with many more to spare.
Bonnie was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
Survivors include her three children, Ken (Carolyn) Jansen and Stephen Jansen, both of Jackson, and Veronica (Mike) Hahn of Seabrook, Texas; six grandchildren, Valerie Stroehlein, Heidi Jansen, Amy Hahn, Eric Jansen, Brian Hahn and Cole Jansen; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Fred and Raymond Menz.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Robin Ann Crowley; and siblings, Mary Parker, Betty Keesee, the Rev. Anthony Menz, Joe Menz, Roy Menz and Kathy Culley.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 4, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Randolph Tochtrop will celebrate a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests Birthright in Cape Girardeau or Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
